...by trade a  Weaver  was BORN in the Parish of Cleenish  in or near the Town of Enniskillen ... was ATTESTED for the Royal Regiment of Artillery at Enniskillen ... on the 12th May 1834 at the Age of 24 Years...

 

...he served Abroad 4 2/12 years at Halifax, Nova Scotia 4 2/12 years.

 

...his DISCHARGE is proposed in consequence of his unfitness for Service...

 

...his Conduct has been Exemplary. He has never been Convicted by Court Martial & his name is not recorded in the Regimental Defaulters Book.  He is in possession of four Good Conduct Badges.

 

 

FINAL DESCRIPTION

Of Hans Mavity of the 10 Bat'n of Royal Artillery when discharged the Service at Woolwich this 10 day of June 1856.

Gun'r & D'r Hans Mavity 10th Batt'n R'l Artillery - Varicose Veins of the  Left Testicle

 

The veins of the Left Testicle are enlarged and Varicose, and he is thereby unfitted for using Certain Horse Exercise.

Disability caused by his Military Service.

 

After a careful examination I am of opinion that Hans Mavity is unfit for Service and likely to be permanently disqualified for Military duty, but that he is able to contribute something towards his livelihood.
